Research has shown that Pre-kindergarten provides an excellent foundation for a child’s academic, social, and emotional development. In 2014 St. Jemuel became a contracted Department of Education (DOE)– Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) provider. Our program accommodates 31 UPK children turning 5 in 2018 in two large bright, self-contained classrooms. The program is free, and no income qualifications are required. Our program meets all the same criteria as a public school Pre-K program in a smaller environment. It is a permanent path to their future. Our program’s curriculum is scientifically validated, evidenced-based, and research-based. It demonstrates a linguistically and developmentally appropriate educational approach designed to demonstrate, foster, and support readiness in the five (5) domain areas represented in the Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework. It is aligned with the NYS Pre-kindergarten Foundation for the Common Core standards to advance school readiness across all domains for developing excellence. Our Headteacher is certified in Early Childhood Education with over 30 years of experience. All of our Assistant teachers are bi-lingual (Spanish & English).
All activities led by professionals consider the culture and background of the children.
There are three Parent/Teacher conferences during the school year to keep you updated on your child’s development.
Parent and family participation in social activities is encouraged.
